Achieving our Aims

For your information you can download a copy of the Constitution for Billingshurt Chamber of Commerce.

We will achieve our Aims through five principal programmes with a Committee member heading each initiative.  The programmes are:

Executive Committee Chair
In addition to her role of Executive Chairman, Susan also leads the Events Project Team. She joined the Chamber in 2008 and has been an energetic and enthusiastic member since then.  Susan is the owner of Arun Business Associates, a local accountancy firm established in 1989. Her professional training was with one of the top ten national accountancy firms and she then moved on to become financial director of an advertising and marketing group. 
Susan is passionate the Chamber's role in the community and, in particular, its ability to promote the growth of local business.

Chris Sewell
Executive Committee Vice Chairman
Chris is the Managing Director of Active Information Systems, providers of business IT systems and support contracts with guaranteed response times for small to medium businesses.  The company has a strong ethical focus and it has always been my belief that businesses should be an integral part of the community, supporting local projects, education and charities where able.
Chris believes the Chamber can improve local  business involvement to the benefit of the whole community .

Treasurer
Geoff is the 'Brown' of Park & Brown Optometrists on Billingshurst High St. He has been with the Chamber since the beginning and provided support to the Executive Committee throughout. Geoff is responsible for keeping the books up to date and producing any financial reports the Committee need.

Secretary with responsibility for Membership
Sandy is Secretary to the Chamber of Commerce and has responsibility for all matters in relation to Chamber Membership, Executive Committee minutes and general administration for the Chamber .

Matt Bennett
Responsible for Marketing and Communication
Matt is a font of knowledge with many years experience working within the advertising, graphic design, branding and print marketing fields, with past accolades including being the lead creative on blue chip accounts such as British Airways, Virgin, Lexus, Toyota, Taywood Homes and British Land. Now owner of BlueFlameDesign in Billingshurst, Matt's passion is to raise the quality of design and print marketing support for the smaller business. Matt brings his experience to the executive committee by overseeing the Chambers' Marketing and Communications efforts, whilst enforcing the Chambers' brand stays clear, coherent and consistent.

Martin Spurrier
Responsible for Public Relations
Martin is Co-owner and Managing Partner of Fowlers Estate Agents in Billingshurst, Storrington and Pulborough and has had a home in Billingshurst for over 20years.  For 36 years he lived and worked in Hong Kong where he spent his career in corporate and financial Public Relations with the Jardine Mathson Group and in consultancies - his own company, and global networks Burson-Marsteller, Webber Shandwick and Edelman.  He was 'Founding' member, and remains a 'Life' member, of Britcham in Hong Kong.

Responsible for Major Events
After moving to Billingshurst in 1996. Keith left corporate life to set up his own business, based in Billingshurst.  Keith's background is in HR and he was the Human Resources Director for the UK subsidiary of an American owned international company. 
Keith is now an independent Distributor with the Utility Warehouse Discount Club which saves its members (both households and small businesses) a great deal of money.  He is also a Driving Instructor and can frequently be seen at work, in and around the village. 
Keith is very keen to help with the development of local businesses through community development.

Responsible for Regular Networking Events
Anita and her husband Peter have owned the Farm Shop and Cafe opposite the Library in Billingshurst for the last four years.  Anita joined the Chamber as a representative for the Retailers in Billingshurst and believe that we can work together to make the town a place where people want to come to shop, dine and socialise

Roger Moore
Member of the Executive Committee
Roger qualified in 1985 and is now the Partner in charge of the Billingshurst office of Hilton Sharp & Clarke with 25 years' practice experience.  He works mainly with owner-managed businesses where he advises them on profit maximisation and tax planning. Hilton Sharp & Clarke covers all aspects of accountancy and tax for all sizes of undertaking.   Roger is a keen member of the Chamber Executive Committee alongside his colleague Alan Rodway working for the benefit of  all members

Patrick Perks
Member of the Executive Committee
Patrick retired from Industry in 1995. Chartered Electronics Engineer and Fellow of the British Institute of Management and the Institute of Directors.  Industrial career in Electronics and Telecommunications specialising in Electronic Security.  Worked for the British Government and Three Major International Companies the last being a Swiss Company responsible as Main Board Director for their overseas Subsidiaries and Advanced Development.  Founder and Past Chairman of the Local Community Partnership and Past Chairman of the Parish Council.  Currently a Trustee and Director of the South East Regional Towns Partnership.

Co-opted Member of the Executive Committee
Ken is a Director of the local Community Partnership Committee, and was instrumental in the revitalization of the Billingshurst Chamber of Commerce in 2008 which he lead until he handed it over to the Business Community of Billingshurst in 2009.  His current role for the Chamber is working with the Executive Committee as adviser in matters regarding the Village Regeneration for Billingshurst.
